Solvay 95

Solvay 95 has registration NY3018F and was built in 1930 at Choisy-le-Roi.  All information is from Vagus-Vagrant.fr unless otherwise stated.

Solvay 95 was put up for sale in 1972 by Solvay, following the transfer of José Casier to Solvay 119. It was given the name Tinagoo and converted it into a house by shortening it to 30 metres. It is now moored on the Doubs, in Besançon more precisely at 103 des près de Vaux, where it can still be seen today.

These first three photos show Solvay 95 on the boat slide at Arzviller on its way up to the summit of the canal du Marne au Rhin (est):

Solvay 95 had her nose cut off during the war and Sylviane's father in law René Parent picked it up when the war was over:

Here she is unladen:

On the Seine around 1960:

According to Sylviane Parent this next photo is interesting for two reasons: first, the tugboat St-GEORGES is passing by , and second, the barge 95 is being refueled. Indeed, in the 1950s, and probably a little before, Solvay had its own fuel station for its barges. It was located under the pedestrian bridge, near the soda loading area, and this continued until the mid-1960s. After that, the Aubert company from Dombasle refueled the company's barges for about ten years, followed by others, until the end of the fleet:

Solvay is now known as Tintagoo and as of summer 2025 was moored on the Doubs at Besançon. We saw her when we went through the town:

This was Tinagoo moored at Oselle in 2010 on her way to the boatyard in Mulhouse.  We left our boat here for a couple of weeks in 2025 when we popped back to the UK:

The Deutz engine on display at St-Jean-de-Losne originated from Tinagoo:
