Solvay 84

Solvay 84, registration NY3150F, was built in 1932 at Villeneuve la Garenne with a 30 hp Deutz engine.  Unless stated otherwise all information on this page is taken from Vagus-Vagrant.fr.


Solvay 84 was Denis Amand’s parents' boat: the cabin was redone and the 30hp Deutz engine was changed to a DK4 in January and February 1965 in Vitry-le-François. Here she is moored at Dombasle:

In the summer of 1964, during a shutdown of the Canal de l'Est (now canal des Vosges), a group of Solvays in Donchery: 123, 122, 81, 87 & 84. It was during this period of unemployment that the son of Solvay 84, a certain D. , spotted the daughter of number Solvay 122, let's just call her R. , on her bicycle - they didn't yet know that, a few years later, they would get married, and together have numbers 103, 108 and finally 70:
