Solvay 33

Solvay 33, registration NY2346F, was built in 1915 in Frouard and motorised in 1921 with a 20 hp Aster engine. The information on this page is obtained from Vagus-Vagrant.fr unless otherwise indicated.

When she was sold by Solvay in 1963 she was renamed Ra-Es and when she was then re-sold in 1966 her new name became Belphegor.

An interesting anecdote by a lady born on Solvay 33:

I am the daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and great-great-granddaughter of bargees. I found my parents' Solvay 33 on this forum. When my sister was born on it, it was the RA-ES in '63. The four letters of that name were the four initials of the family: R for the father, A for the mother, E for the eldest daughter Elisabeth, and S for the second daughter. Then the third was born on it; we couldn't add another R, it would have been unpronounceable.
