Solvay 313

Solvay 313, registration NY2300F, was a wooden decked barge, built in Bouchain in 1899 (shipyard name not specified), purchased for 22,150 francs by Solvay in November 1919 from Henri Delcroix, whose motto was HG. It received the registration number NY2300F in October 1921, then was resold in September 1932 to Madame Claessens of Antwerp (Graandok).  All information is taken from Vagus-Vagrant unless otherwise stated.


A postcard of the écluse at Dun-sur-Meuse postmarked March 26 1931 showing the wooden barge. Interestingly, during the colorization process, the publisher successfully brought out the circle that was painted on these wooden Solvay barges, at the intersection of the keel and the whiskers, and which can be seen in a few other photos:
