Solvay 177

Wooden Solvays weren’t rare; there were about 130 of them ( Solvay 63-64 , 101-217, and 301 - 320).

From information found on this wooden decked barge in an old Solvay fleet register: built in Thuin (Belgium) in 1901; Solvay bought this Marceau from Auguste Sommelette in December 1919, for the sum of 16,000 francs, and renamed it Solvay 177, which received the registration number NY2320F in November 1921; then resold it in 1932 to Désiré Lecoq, of Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, for 9,000 francs. It was then renamed Marceau.

All information on this page is taken from Vagus-Vagrant unless otherwise stated.
